CITY: Saint-Étienne

Saint-Étienne is a city in east-central France. In 2010 Saint-Étienne became the first French city to join the UNESCO creative cities network as city of design. Saint-Etienne has adopted design as an agent for urban transformation and for economic development. Relying on the creativity of its territory and the engagement of both the public and industrial sector, the city is reinventing itself, leading its numerous small and medium-sized enterprises to innovation, and improving the quality of its citizens’ urban living environment through design.

IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS

  1. Visas: We will provide any institutional documentation that is needed by a participant in order to obtain a visa. If you require such a document please send us an email at events@omilab.org with further details. The participants should inquire at the nearest French consulate or ambassy for specific instructions.
  2. Health Insurance: Participants must have health insurance with valid coverage in France. We advise you to check with your insurance company before leaving for France whether you‘re covered for your stay. For all participants from EU-countries the E-Card is accepted in France and therefore covers the health insurance (the E-Card has to be activated for Europe wide use). All Non-European participants must have health insurance as well. It you apply for a visa to come to France you will need to take out a policy before leaving your country.

You should at least include the following in your budget: dinner expenses and sundries (museums, restaurants, going out, etc.)

Please make sure you withdraw some cash before coming to Saint-Étienne on your first day, and it is recommended to always have cash on you, as not all local shops accept foreign credit cards.
